Chapters
Local chapters are groups organized by ASHIM members on a volunteer basis. They bring together people within a healthcare community who share an interest in Health IT. These chapters foster the professional growth and educational needs of ASHIM members. They encourage the development of strong industry leaders and support the rapid changes surrounding health IT within our health care community. Local chapters provide a wide range of seminars, workshops, and local news as well as the opportunity to exchange views with the other professionals in their area.
ASHIM Local Chapters infuse regional perspectives on developments and issues in Health IT for optimal education and networking opportunities. They inform the local membership as whole, the hiring public and interested members of the national healthcare community and are an important source of information that informs ASHIM’s national mission.

Washington, DC Chapter President, ASHIM Washington: David Blackburn has more than 12 years experience in Health IT, working with Federal Government agencies and Fortune 500 firms. He is active in the DC Health IT community and is the founder of the DC Health 2.0. David lives in Annapolis, has two kids, and is an avid runner; completing both the 2008 and 2009 Marine Corps Marathons.
Atlanta, GA Chapter President, ASHIM Atlanta: Mike Danford, CHISP is a results oriented IT professional with 11 years of experience as a project manager, systems engineer and business analyst. He specializes in healthcare IT with a focus on EMR and practice management solutions. Mike has broad experience with document management and customer relationship management (CRM) solutions as well and has successfully managed client projects for several companies such as U.S. HealthWorks, CBeyond, AGCO Corporation and EarthLink. He founded and currently directs SereniTech, an Atlanta-based consultancy catering to small medical practices, community health and non-profit organizations.

Dip LC is a Healthcare Consultant and Change Management/Organizational Development Professional with a solid record of sourcing talent and enhancing workforce transitions to achieve strategic goals through professional training. She enjoys networking and issues related to health care and Information Technology.
Columbus, OH Chapter President, ASHIM Columbus: Marie Kihm is a critical care RN, with a BS in Information Technology, and is currently completing her MBA. Since leaving bedside nursing care 17 years ago, Marie has worked for major insurers and IT depts programming and developing EMRs. Marie most recently obtained her CHISP certification through ASHIM and is currently employed as the Informatics Coordinator at CareTech Solutions, the 2008 & 2009 KLAS Award Winner for IT Outsourcing.
Philadelphia, PAChapter President, ASHIM Philadelphia: Robert Wilkinson is the president of Med Communicator and has followed a 40 year career in the information technology industry. He has developed global programs for major industry vendors. Previously, he was responsible for the world-wide indirect channel operations and marketing at Unisys Corporation. An expert on software technologies, he is an executive speaker at conferences worldwide.

Salt Lake City, UT Chapter President, ASHIM Salt Lake City: Jonathan Utley, an A+ certified IT veteran, contributes more than 15 years experience to his role as the System Administrator for Dywidag Systems International. An expert in his field, he splits time between the United States, Australia and Europe. He enjoys keeping companies and individuals “connected”.
